I am beginning my 13th year of teaching Special Education at Jackson Elementary school.

I was born and raised in Griffin, Ga. My love for working with children comes from my grandmother, Dorothy Tingle, who ran the Mother's Day Out childcare service at First Presbyterian Church in Griffin for many years. To this day, 20 years after Mother's Day Out closed, I meet people that tell me how much they loved my grandmother and how she practically raised them as a small child.

After completing college in 1997, I began teaching tennis at Idle Hour Country Club in Macon, Ga. While there, I learned how to teach children in ways that they could easily understand. Many of the methods I used teaching tennis, such as keeping a child's attention and interest, presenting new material or methods in a variety of ways, maintaining motivation, building self-confidence, and making learning enjoyable, are the backbone for how I run my classroom today.

Since 2002, It has been my honor to work with the children of Butts County. I enjoy my career and have truly been blessed to work in a wonderful county with a terrific group of educators.
