B.F.A. in Graphic Design - Missouri State University (Springfield, MO)

This will be my 20th year teaching elementary art.

My first 7 years of teaching were at Upson-Lee South Elementary School in Thomaston, GA, where I was named *Teacher of the Year in 2006. I was also a soccer coach for the Upson-Lee High School soccer team.

My last 12 years of teaching have been right here at the wonderful JES where, proudly, my own son went to school. Go Pandas!

I also sponsor the JES Art Club for 5th Graders.

I'm originally from Auburn, AL, but being the child of college teachers, I soon found myself living in different parts the country and going to school in such places as Chicago, Phoenix, Tuscaloosa, Miami and Norfolk.

Before becoming a teacher I worked as a professional graphic designer for over 10 years, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, I absolutely love my new profession. Teaching children is one of the joys of my life!

My wife (Debbie Bell, art teacher at Jackson High School), son (Keith Bell, Jackson High School graduate and Georgia Southern University graduate), and I moved to Jackson in 1999, and we love it! Some of you may remember me as a U-10, U-12 & U-19 soccer coach for the Butts County Recreation Department, where in 2009 I was given the *Coach of the Year award.

In my spare time I like to go mountain biking, kayaking and riding around town on my Vespa motorscooter.
